Dr. Jyoti Gupta
- A Brief about yourself and how you describe your own Personality and Persona.
Generous and empathetic, goal-driven, a loyal friend and a patient listener, passionate about work and life, and a die-hard Bollywood romantic, I am Dr. Jyoti Gupta, a surgeon by profession, a loving wife, daughter and homemaker. As Hippocrates said “wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity”, serving humankind and bringing back that lost smile, providing health and healing is something that makes me feel content and fortunate, and I never stop striving for better and learning something new with every rising sun. A globetrotter at heart, I love seeing new places, experiencing local culture and local cuisine. "Life is short, make it worthwhile” are words that I live my life by.
- Your Achievements that makes you feel high.
Bringing back smile to faces of those in pain and being able to save lives, fills my heart with a sense of satisfaction and makes me feel high.
- Define the true beauty.
True beauty is the warmth, compassion and grace that a person exhibits. It runs much deeper than bare external appearance. When a person is kind, compassionate and positive, embraces themselves for who they are confidently, they glow differently. That aura is true beauty for me.
- What makes a complete, healthy and happy family for you?
A family that stands together like firm pillars of support and strength for each other, is available for one another in times of need, despair and celebration, but at the same time gives space to each other, understands, cares and accepts each other for who they are rather than striving for perfection- in my opinion makes a complete, happy and healthy family. As the famous quote says “a family that eats together, laughs together- stays together”.
- What is your favorite Idea of Holidaying?
Holidaying for me is synonymous with relaxing and rejuvenating the mind, body and soul. My favourite idea of holidaying is spending quality time with friends and family, travelling, exploring new places and most importantly spending time with myself. My favourite holiday destination would be any calm and serene beach- waking up with the sound of waves, walking barefoot on the sand and enjoying the tranquil ocean breeze.
- Why you are participating in Mrs India Queen of Substance?
Mrs. India Queen of Substance would provide me a global platform to voice my opinion on various ongoing social issues like woman empowerment and woman health awareness. With extreme determination, perseverance and hard work, I believe I have come a long way, from a small town girl to a surgeon- and still have miles to go. Telling the story of my life- about the struggles and achievements, highs and lows, I hope I would be able to motivate the younger generation to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams and never give up.
- What bothers you most about what is happening in the country today?
Of all the problems being faced by the world today, GENDER INEQUALITY bothers me the most. According to a recent article in Economic times, women in India earn 19% less than men, reflecting the high gender pay-gap in the country, nearly 60% of women feel discrimination at work and over one-third of women feel that they are not considered for top managerial positions. Not just in the professional sphere, even in the domestic front, most women are still facing the wrath of patriarchy, and thus not being able to develop their talents and skills to the fullest.
- The Quote or saying that encourages you?
“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts”. – Winston Churchill.
- What is true “Sportsmanship” for you?
Self discipline, self control and honesty are three most important qualities that a good sportsman should possess according to me. True sportsmanship is all about working in harmony, having mutual respect for your teammates as well as your opponents and not losing your grace and humility on winning or losing the game.
- If you were selected as a Charity Ambassador what value addition would you like to make for our Society and how?
During my post-graduate residency days, an elderly woman suffering from breast cancer was being treated under my surgical unit. Due to delay in seeking medical care, the cancer had spread to her lungs and bone. She underwent rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and we tried to provide the best palliative therapy. But unfortunately, after six months, the woman succumbed to cancer. If selected as a charity ambassador, I would like to raise awareness regarding breast cancer to increase cancer screening, and help every woman suffering receive affordable and effective treatment. Every 4 minutes one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, LETS BE AWARE & BE PREPARED.
