Aswini Vijayakumar
- A Brief about yourself and how you describe your own Personality and Persona.
I'm Aswini Vijayakumar, 28 years old, from Salem, Tamil Nadu. I’ve been married to my husband Prasanna Venkateshwaran for 4 years and we're blessed with a smart little boy Obli Viaan, who is 3 years old. I'm an Architecture graduate from one of the most reputed colleges in India, NIT- Trichy. I've not only excelled academically in school & college but also in Dance, Tennis, Kho-Kho and athletics. Today I’m a successful entrepreneur, my husband and I running our business together. I'm known for being a happy-go-lucky person with a positive and charming attitude, where I tend to make the place lit with my presence. Being a survivor of depression, the lowest points in my life has been an absolute game changer for me, teaching me how to live life to the fullest just by living, consciously.
- Your Achievements that makes you feel high.
My greatest achievement is, the person that I've become today. All my highs and lows have taught me various values of life. My highs have taught me to remain down to earth and pragmatic, to stay polite as life's graph doesn't always keep going up. My lowest points of life have given me the strength and perseverance to keep moving forward, to keep a positive attitude that, "This too shall pass". In today’s world, it’s important that we know how to balance life amidst all the chaos that life throws at us or rather, what we pull ourselves into. Raise your consciousness so high that, no matter at what point of life you are in, you know how to be contended and happy.
- Define the true beauty.
According to me, True Beauty is not limited to just the aesthetics of a person but someone who is also beautiful inside out. True Beauty is in Kindness, Love, Positivity, Selflessness, Patience, Compassion, Empathy, Helpfulness, Generosity, Truthfulness, Care and Warmth. It takes only one minute to create a bad impression about you but Kindness and Love, one can win the whole wide world. True Beauty is who you are, as a whole and how you showcase yourself for the world to see it.
- What makes a complete, healthy and happy family for you?
A family is complete when there's immense love, support, understanding and cooperation between the members. A healthy family is one that’s supportive of each other, especially during hard times and respecting each other’s boundaries and values. A healthy and happy family strive to build stronger connections, and bonds that are unbreakable. Understanding that people want different things, accepting them as they are and managing conflicts with absolute integrity is definitely one complete, healthy and a happy family.
- What is your favorite Idea of Holidaying?
Many of us today are living a very hectic and mechanical life. We live in such a competitive world where we leave our family, home and friends to get into the dream college we've been working hard for or rather, pursue our dream job. As we age, we have to keep moving forward in life that sometimes we're forced to leave our closest of people to achieve our goals. That feeling of happiness when we finally get to meet our family and friends we love, after months or years of waiting is something beyond words can express. In such a busy world, whatever brings loved ones together is my favourite idea of Holidaying!
- Why you are participating in Mrs India Queen of Substance?
Beauty pageants are a great platform to show who you are, not just by your looks but how so poise and confident you are about yourself. It's wonderful how pageants have evolved over time that one doesn't need high qualifications, an extraordinary financial status or family background to participate in one. You just have to be "You", by being confident, positive, bold, unique and passionate, whatever makes you stand out from the crowd, irrespective of colour, caste or religion. It’s a great opportunity for you to prove your values, thoughts and attitude which inspired me to participate in Mrs. India, Queen of Substance.
- What bothers you most about what is happening in the country today?
Mental Health still being a taboo, not just in our country but in the whole wide world. No matter how much awareness is being raised, Mental Health isn't given just as much importance as Physical Health is. The stigma needs to be broken so that people don’t have to struggle in secret anymore. Mental health can affect our emotional and social well-being, and is of great concern from children, adolescents and adults. Many people choose to take their lives due to the lack of support and guidance, resulting in an increase in suicidal rates by 3.4% from 2018 to 2019 in India. Let’s normalize Mental Health and not something to be ashamed of!
- The Quote or saying that encourages you?
"What you practice, grows Stronger." Whatever we think, whatever we speak of, whatever we believe in, we become. Constantly sending positive affirmations to myself, practicing yoga, meditating for at least 10 minutes a day, following a spiritual and healthy lifestyle and spending quality time with my family has helped me become the person that I am today. Consistency is the key. Show some self-love. Forgive yourself for what you cannot change and become the person you want to be by learning to be mindful of your thoughts and actions. Most of all, Be kind to your mind!
- What is true “Sportsmanship” for you?
Life is full of surprises. Like the saying, " Yesterday is a history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift”, what's gone is gone; there's nothing we can do about it. What's to come in the future is, uncertain. All that we have for sure is the NOW. The minute we learn to build our emotions stronger into living in the present that, no matter what happens, you're unshakeable and you have the strength and spirit to handle anything at ease, that's where true Sportsmanship lies. We live life once. Let’s be so strong to not let the external affect our internal!
- If you were selected as a Charity Ambassador what value addition would you like to make for our Society and how?
Being a Mental Health Advocate on social media, creating awareness on the importance of Mental Health, becoming a Charity Ambassador would make it easier for me to succeed by reaching people on a higher level. My goal is to make help readily available to people, even those from the rural areas and to reduce the percentage of suicidal rates. All we need to do is, TALK about the importance of Mental Health and talk as much as we can. I’m determined to make it reach as many people as possible and not to forget, gather as many volunteers as we can to achieve our goal.
