P Sunitha Khanna
- A Brief about yourself and how you describe your own Personality and Persona.
I am Mrs Sunitha Khanna . I live in Hyderabad. I got married when I was 18 yr old with minimal formal education. I started perusing my education in distance mode after I gave birth to my twin daughters a year after my marriage . I entered into Government service as a High School teacher at the age of 25 a year after I gave birth to my son. I became a single mother at the age of 35 due to my husband’s demise owing to cardiac arrest . I am 50 yr old mother of 30 yr old twin daughters who are working as police officers in Telangana State and I also have a 25 yr old son who is an advocate. I am also grandmother to 5 and 3 yr old grand kids since one of my daughters is married. It’s an arranged marriage and she is absolutely happy with the marriage. Today I am leading a successful happy married life. My journey as a single mother was miserable until I got married to Mr. Jagadish Babu 16 years ago. We together started our journey almost in deficit with no one’s support against all odds. Today we are self sufficient by running a business generating employment and income source to others. My husband not only proved himself as a good husband but also as a good father despite being 10 yrs younger to me and 10 yrs elder to my daughters.
- Your Achievements that makes you feel high.
I am a teacher by profession and an activist by passion. As a teacher I didn’t confine myself to bell and bill concept . I upgraded my skills and enriched my knowledge consistently and grew as a State resource group member of SCERT TELANGANA I am involved in TEXTBOOT development, Digital content development and Presentation for DIKSHA PORTAL, performed as Key Resource Person for state and Central government projects etc. I am passionate to relationships, professional development and community service. I am also the sleeping partner of my husband’s business. I am free spirited, laborious ambitious, kind person. I am flexible , friendly and a good listener too. I always aim to make a difference. I love breaking stereotypes right from my childhood. For example I used to ride Chetak scooter, wear pants, have boy cut in my 10th standard unlike my community girls. I wanted to become a doctor but my community did not encourage girl education. Spreading positive energy and adapting myself to the situations are my assets. Updating myself by learning new skills, accepting challenges keep me energised and make me a better version. I am a role model for many of them who know me. Gender sensitization and women empowerment are of great concerns to me. As a Chair person of IHRA Telangana Iam compassionate to disadvantaged girls and women. I cannot refrain from sensitizing people in my vicinity.
- Define the true beauty.
According to me beauty is a power which makes us feel young and pure at heart as young as tiny tots and as pure as mothers love. Its an expression of bliss and confidence of a person. It lies in the nature in the form of flowers, moist, streams, birds and flies etc. It lies in the soul in the form of thoughts. Sometimes beauty for me is the respect, the care and affection you receive from the other person and the appreciation and gratitude you give for the other person.
- What makes a complete, healthy and happy family for you?
Healthy family is that where every member lives in harmony. Each member has love, care and respect for the other. Healthy family shares each other’s views and feel responsible for their actions, learn from mistakes and forgive , support each other at tough times and overcome obstacles and stay connected.
- What is your favourite Idea of Holidaying?
Favourite holiday I like travelling very much and every time I like to visit a different place. For me it is not the place that makes the holiday memorable but the good weather , good food ,landscapes and clear blue skies. Its all about the good time spent with the family with lots of fun enjoying the nature.
- Why you are participating in Mrs India Queen of Substance?
I am participating in Mrs India Queen of Substance 2023 because bigger platforms create bigger impact and thereby I can influence people at large. It also gives me a scope to discover a better version of myself and give a message that age is just an excuse. As I represent the Mrs India Queen of Substance pageant it brings me immense satisfaction and sense of well being that I am associated with people who are compassionate and contributing for women empowerment. I can inspire and reach out people at large in whatever way I can for the noble cause with the identity I gain through this platform.
- What bothers you most about what is happening in the country today?
I am mostly bothered about the gender inequality in our country. Gender equality can only improve the standards of living of the women and their communities since development is associated with gender gap. It is important to address gender issues if we aim for high economic growth. The women empowerment is the only solution for many problems in our country like poverty, illiteracy, unemployment.
- The Quote or saying that encourages you?
Efforts never go in vain . It is said in Bhagavad-Gita Krushitho naasthi dhurbhiksham. This is my favourite quote. I strongly believe everything is possible with efforts .If we make efforts we are nearer to the goal. Sometimes we may not reach the goal but if we carefully observe we have moved ahead from the starting line. It means we are nearer to our goal and the efforts we put in make us more confident and strong which help us to put in the best efforts in the next attempt.
- What is true “Sportsmanship” for you?
True sports men ship in my view is accepting challenges putting the best efforts. Learn from failures and try for betterment at every step of life. Accepting victory and defeat equally. Appreciate and acknowledge the efforts made by the opponents. Stick on to the rules with the spirit of fair play.
- If you were selected as a Charity Ambassador what Value addition would you like to make for our Society and how?
Charity ambassador is not just a nomenclature to me it bring immense potential and responsibility to address the gender issues and sensitize people at large and contribute for the cause as the official representative. As a charity ambassador I would like to take forward the intent of Mrs India Queen of Substance pageant to keep the dignity and respect for women in the first place. I willl never indulge in activities which would let down the prestigious pageant and abide by the norms of the Paegeant. I will try to strengthen the lives of the underprivileged and disadvantaged women and their communities in whatever way I can . I will strive for the women empowerment by creating awareness in the areas of health, education and nutrition. Most importantly I would like to campaign for legal gender equality which can serve as a catalyst to improve the lives of women as well as their families.
