Moupia De

  • Mumbai
  • A Brief about yourself and how you describe your own Personality and Persona.
  • My name is Moupia De and I live in Mumbai. I'm a data scientist by profession. So all the jargon you hear on Artificial intelligence and Machine learning, that's my world. While being at that and a doting mother to a 2.5 year old rockstar, I'm also pursuing an eMDP program from IIM Kozhikode.  I'm a vivacious, witty, zesty and thoughtful person. I love to smile and easily gravitate towards people who sport a flashy grin as me. I'm strong, independent and compassionate and believe that the greatest bliss is in sharing your gifts with the world.

  • Your Achievements that makes you feel high.
  • Achievements no longer mean just professional to me and that's a lesson that I hope to teach my kid some day too. Though professionally I did attain a lot of feats, that's not what I would like to count. My father was a very strong person, more so mentally. That is how he wanted to see his daughters too. Yet in his last days, he suffered a lot from his ill health. It was then that I took charge of the house, his treatment, my mother, my work and my other house (with the husband). He fought till his last breadth. At his deathbed, I was next to him. We can't even imagine our parents getting old, leave alone seeing them breathe their last breadth in front of our eyes. How he transformed me into that strong woman who would breakdown at the slightest hurt as a child. That transformation is and will always remain my biggest achievement, because my father brought that in me by paying with his life.

  • Define the true beauty.
  • True beauty? Like many things that my son has taught me, I learnt the meaning of being truly beautiful too. A mother in all the glory of her motherhood is truly beautiful. And that I learnt by looking at my child's bright, joyful eyes every time he sees me. I realised that to him, there's nothing more beautiful than me in this whole world.

  • What makes a complete, healthy and happy family for you?
  • A family that fosters a space to express openly, without the fear of being misunderstood and judged is a complete family to me. We trust to get the best nutrition at home. Similarly our home should also be the place to nurture our mental health. A complete, healthy and happy family is one that gives us peace of mind and one that we look forward to coming back to, at the end of the day.

  • What is your favorite Idea of Holidaying?
  • My favourite idea of holidaying would be with the close families, at a sunny, beachy place. Kids are playing with each other near the shore. All sitting together, laughter and wine is freely flowing.

  • Why you are participating in Mrs India Queen of Substance?
  • It was a little girl's dream to walk that ramp, from looking at those gorgeous ladies on TV. But as I grew up, like many others from my time, a mainstream career was considered to be one in academics. I went on to pursue pretty much what I wanted to do and forgot all about this dream. But as they say, what you seek, is seeking you.  With this contest, I'm undergoing a phenomenal transformation of my mind and body and I want to share this story with many, many more through this platform. To cherish your every dream and desire and to never believe that it's not for you. You never know when life throws that opportunity your way.

  • What bothers you most about what is happening in the country today?
  • What disturbs me the most is the plight of children, not just in our country but worldwide. Every child deserves love, tenderness and a respectful upbringing. Yet children face under nutrition and malnutrition. They suffer from health disorders, grow up in environments that lack basic amenities and so many do not even receive fundamental education. Even if a child is fortunate to be receiving all of that, there's always the shadow of child abuse threatening them. I think if we cannot create a safe and progressive haven for our children, we've failed as a civilization.

  • The Quote or saying that encourages you?
  • "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime."

  • What is true “Sportsmanship” for you?
  • Sportsmanship is all about showing up, no matter what. It's about giving your best shot and not worrying about the results. If you do win the race, celebrate your victory. But as a true sportsperson,  treat the one that came last with as much valour as you expect to receive yourself.

  • If you were selected as a Charity Ambassador what value addition would you like to make for our Society and how?
  • I would want to work towards the betterment of children. In this world, in whatever way I can improve their lives, I would be honoured to do that. And that has to be done by working on the ground with organisations that support the cause of children. I've been working with DESIRE Society which supports HIV positive children. I would want to work with more such organisations that create a positive impact on the lives of children.
