Finalist Detail 2018

Mrs. A Bajpai

  • Kanpur
  • A Brief about yourself and how you describe your own Personality and Persona.
  • In this world of extremes, I feel like a mix of both black and white. Quirky yet classy, carefree yet responsible, calm like the sea yet full of the power that lies beneath it. I was born in a middle class family, where these 2 extremes lived in the guise of my parents. While my parents were 2 very different people they never failed to bring out the best in me. From singing and dancing to banking and finance, I learnt it all. Life wasn't easy after losing a close one, but my husband was my pillar of strength. I'm talking about others when asked about myself because I’m a people's person.

  • Your Achievements that makes you feel high.
  • I've had my share of awards and academic achievements while I was a student. Being the youngest of the batch to get a degree and then again being the youngest to get a promotion and be a Sr. Manager in a Public Sector Bank. But I truly felt like I've achieved something when I heard my dad boast about me to his friends. I could see him beam with pride while telling his peers about my college degree and my job as a banker and that's when I realised I've made a little mark for myself in life.

  • Define the true beauty.
  • Everything and everyone is so fake today that nobody, not even me understands the real meaning of true beauty. What however I did understood is that it comes out when you are genuine. When you are genuinely happy or excited or in love you can see it on a person's face as well as their personality. And I think that is when you can catch a glimpse of true beauty. No amount of makeup and hide the real intentions of a person. However, our body is a gift given by god and we should try to keep it groomed.

  • What makes a complete, healthy and happy family for you?
  • I think communication is the key when it comes to a complete, happy and healthy family. Ofcourse some things you can't control, but if you can talk about everything with each other it builds a lot of trust and understanding between each other. In all these years, what I've observed is the fact that there have been problems and misunderstanding mostly when there has been a lack of communication. Now when I look back and think about all of that, I feel like we could have easily ironed out our issues by just having a healthy discussion about it.

  • What is your favorite Idea of Holidaying?
  • Well I have my phases. Sometimes I feel like going on a solo trip to the mountains, while sometimes I would just want to spend some quality time with my husband at a quiet beach. Sometimes I'm all up for a power packed family trip to some place we all agree to and sometimes I want to have a getaway with my friends to a party destination. Whatever the mood is, I always make sure I enjoy to the fullest. I want to stay away from my phone, work and other social obligations. And that's how I come back rejuvenated.

  • Why you are participating in Mrs India Queen of Substance?
  • Participating in this pageant and making it through till here gives you exactly the right amount of boost in confidence that you need. It puts you in a pedestal so that your voice is heard. I've always wanted to be someone and use it to the advantage of raising issues which otherwise would not have been heard by all. Through this platform, I hope to be that sane voice we so badly need at a time when all the important issues are losing ground. I’ve always had strong opinions and I’ve never been afraid to raise them.

  • What bothers you most about what is happening in the country today?
  • Without a doubt, the increasing cases of rape and molestation not just in our country, but all over the world. I've always been around men, who have been nothing but respectful towards women and when I read in the news about all these rape cases, it angers me from within. But I've made it a point to channelize this anger into something productive and study the root cause of the problem to stop it as well as help those women who've gone through something as horrible as this, get justice.

  • The Quote or saying that encourages you?
  • There's this song by Mariah Carey "Hero" which always inspires me. Although the entire song is encouraging, but my favourite lines go something like this. “And then a hero comes along, With the strength to carry on, And you cast your fears aside, And you know you can survive, So when you feel like hope is gone, Look inside you and be strong, And you'll finally see the truth, That a hero lies in you.” It talks about being your own hero instead of waiting for someone to help you out. Listening to this song gives you the strength.

  • What is true “Sportsmanship” for you?
  • They say, treat others the way you would like to be treated. Sportsmanship to me, means putting everything and everyone at an equal level including myself. To put it in simple words, if I can't take a joke on myself, I have no right to joke around with others. I don’t know if it has turned in my favour or against me but I always put myself in others’ shoes before arriving at any conclusion in life.

  • If you were selected as a Charity Ambassador what Value addition would you like to make for our Society and how?
  • I'd like to extend my mother's wish of sponsoring a kid's cancer treatment by raising as many funds as possible so that not one, but hundreds of people could seek better medical facilities. Not only have I researched a lot on this topic but have also seen enough in my own life to understand what the patient and their family goes through at such times. All we can do is, make their lives easier by at least giving them the best facilities and try and make them comfortable through this difficult phase of life.
