Our little girls
Little girls and their shattered world due to child abuse.

“Can you give me some more?”, she was pleading with the candy guy.
“No more, I already gave you extra”, said the candy guy in his gruffy voice.
She looked disappointed, she turned away and started to walk ahead. She was holding a barbie in her hand and she kept looking for a nice pair of clothes for her doll. She already spent 5 rupees on candy, she has 5 more.
She looked at the giant wheel in front of her, contemplating if she should buy a ticket or not with the 5 rupees… while she felt a hand on her thigh. She tried to push it and continue to walk towards the giant wheel, but the hand wouldn’t move. She tried again but the hand got firmer.
She suddenly woke up and found herself in the dark. The bus is still moving. She looked ahead and she saw her parents in the seat in front, sleeping.
She could still feel the hand on her thigh, she looked beside. It was that uncle who brought her an ice-cream as they were all boarding the bus. He smiled at her, and she smiled back, still sleepy.
She closed her eyes and could now feel the hand move towards her chest. It didn’t feel good, so she opened her eyes and looked at him again.
He came close and whispered, just sleep beta. Its cold, so I’m trying to hold you and keep you warm. She closed her eyes trying to go back to the giant wheel, when she felt his hands pressing her chest, her stomach, her thighs…nothing felt good.
She tried to push him, but he held her strongly and said, “You’re a pretty girl… Did you like the ice-cream? If you be quiet, I’ll give you 10 rupees so you can buy another one.”
The thought seemed ok to her. She tried to sleep and get back to the exhibition in her dreams.
But the touch was too uncomfortable. She tried to call her dad, but she could feel one of his hands on her mouth. She tried to scream but she couldn’t. That’s when she got scared.
No one did that to her earlier. She tried to move her hands, but she couldn’t.
In few mins, the light came on, the bus stopped, and the uncle took his bag and got down, with few others. The bus started to move again.
She couldn’t sleep, never finished her dream. Their stop came finally, and her dad and mom woke up and they all got down.
On their way home, dad asked, “Did you sleep well sweetie? There is an exhibition in town, do you want to go today?” The girl nodded... No.
“OK.. what ice-creamflavor shall we eat today?”, The girl nodded…No.
She thought of her barbie doll that she dropped in the bus….her eyes full of tears… she thought… I’ll never eat an ice-cream again.
